Micro-organism: Introduction of micro-organism

Micro-organism are everywhere . they help us in many ways and also they harm us in many way but as they say everything has two sides right . so let’s dive in to the world of micro-organism and have some introduction with them, so we can know them and we can see how they help us in our daily life so

let’s begin…..

Introduction to the group of Micro-organisms

Bacteria

This group of microbes includes members of prokaryotes. Bacteria word is the plural of the singular bacterium. The member of this group share common features like unicellular, lack of organelle level organisation, primitive nucleus, pepptidoglycan cell wall. Verities of shape are found amongst them like cocci(round), rod, spiral , vibrio and pleomorphic.

Autotrophy and heterotrophy both are commonly found in this group.

As cyanobacteria are also the members of this group photosynthesis is also found. Bacteria play crucial role in recycling of geo logical chemicals. Many of them are found to be pathogens also. Bacteriology is the science concerned with the study of bacteria

Archeobacteria

These are much similar to bacteria by having prokaryotic nature and microscopic size. But cell wall composition makes them different from bacteria. Here pseudomurein or psudopeptidoglycan is found in cell wall. These microbes are always found in extreme conditions like high salt concentration, extreme ph, extremely high temperature. The lives of these members always pass in hardship.

Fungi

The word “fungi” is plural of the word “fungus” . they are eukaryotic, unicellular or filamentous multicellular which are achlorophylous. The size of them is ranging from microscopic to macroscopic. The members of this group serve our mother earth by playing very vital role in food chain as decomposer and saprobes. Fungi also play important role at industrial level for artificial purpose. They are known to produce alcohol, antibiotics, organic acids, steroids, enzymes and many other important products.on the other side they cause disease in humans, plants and animals and they are very notorious for causing spoilage of food, textile etc and cause huge economic loss. Mycology is the science which deals with study of fungi

Algae

The word “algae” is plural of the word “alga”. Algae are eukaryotic, unicellular or multicellular organisms that possess chloroplasts and able to perform photosynthesis. Algae plays significant role in nature by reducing the level of co2 . they play the role of primary producer in the food chain of ecosystem. They  may be found in marine or freshwater aquatic system.

Algae are found to produce many commercial valuable products like alginic acid, agar-agar. Algae can be used as food also while they are known to cause water pollution and diseases also phycology is the branch of science which deals with study related to algae
